High Risk Plant Regulations
The Government is making slow progress on finalising the changes to the regulations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015: Better Regulation – Plant, Structures and Working at Heights.
The NZ Concrete Contractors Association (NZCCA) continues to monitor progress on the upcoming regulations which will see boom pumps being classified as High Risk Plant, requiring stringent record keeping and maintenance programmes. It may not just be boom pumps affected either, as the draft regulations also make recommendations on plant, mobile plant and digger/excavation machinery which will impact not only concrete pumpers, but almost all other concrete workers.
The last communication we had from MBIE was in December of last year when we were advised that the draft document should be released for review early this year, although with the changes in Government this will almost certainly be delayed again.
